Delta AFA Flight Attendant Hotline 6/25/2007Today is Monday, June 25th and this is an updated hotline message for all Delta Air Lines flight attendants. SLC based flight attendant and AFA supporter, Paul Tanner reporting... Independence Day for Us TooThe July schedules are out and now we know where we will be watching the 4th of July fireworks. For many of us, that won’t be happening in the place where we live. It’s normal to be away on a holiday as a junior flight attendant (17 1/2 years is junior - go figure!), but this holiday is special. It celebrates independence. It celebrates people who took their destiny into their own hands and stopped being dictated to by others. In the short term it took sacrifice, pain and bloodshed. But in the end it was all worth it. In fact, the two entities that became of the separation are not only better off for it, but they remain allies in most regards to this day. While I would never equate our struggle with the fight of our nation for independence, our courses do run the same direction. We aren’t fighting a tyrant, but a bureaucratic system that discounts our input. While we don’t risk our lives and limbs, we do have to work collectively toward a common goal. In order for us to succeed in this goal of a contract we need to remain focused on the end result, a legally represented workplace that we create out of our own efforts. By putting forth the small sacrifice of our time we can find our own independence at Delta. And both parties will be better off for it. I for one will enjoy the fireworks a little more than usual this year. I wish you the same. Ecrew-to-GO...Nowhere.If you are having trouble getting on Ecrew via the portal you are not alone. Ecrew is having major issues with the portal via a Java error. The company has announced this, but has used the web portal to do so. Therefore, many of you might not have gotten the message. The VPN still works from home, but without it you will not be getting on Ecrew from home until it is fixed. I have tried 2 different operating systems and 4 different browsers to no avail. Atlanta Employee Parking Lot Campaining Going WellThe hours spent by your flying partners volunteering to pass out our summer newsletter have been productive. They will continue into July and you are encouraged to offer your time. I am told that it is a fun and rewarding experience. Please acknowledge the efforts of these people as they brave the heat to help further our cause. If you want to join the party, here is the contact information. WHEN: Every Tuesday thru Thursday Also, there are many AFA cards expiring -- so you may be contacted soon by a volunteer to remind you of that. If you think it’s been close to a year since you have signed a card, please sign another one today. You can download and print one at www.deltaafa.org.
