HELPFUL CAMPAIGN TALKING POINTS

These are the three (3) primary talking points in our campaign:

1. Job & Seniority Protections

Our first step after a successful union election, even before we get a signed contract, will be to secure a side letter of agreement that will provide legal protection for our seniority as well as protection under the AFA-CWA Constitution & Bylaws. AFA-CWA’s Constitution ensures date-of-hire seniority in a merger with another AFA-CWA carrier. In addition, we will gain a seat at the merger table, and a voice in how a merger will affect our future. Delta's assertion that we are protected without a contract is false. We were fortunate to have avoided US Airways’ hostile take-over bid. Let's obtain the protections we need before another threat arises. By joining AFA-CWA, we can achieve all of these protections as we move forward to negotiate a legally binding contract that will protect our jobs, wages and working conditions.

2. Restoration of our Pay and Working Conditions

By joining AFA-CWA, a union with vast experience in post-bankruptcy negotiations, we can position ourselves for full restoration of the reductions in our wages and working conditions over the past several years. Represented groups, including our own Delta pilots, will move quickly at the bargaining table to win back what has been lost in bankruptcy. That process already has begun at other carriers. Without a union we will not have the opportunity to press for those improvements.

3. Securing a Professional Voice for the Long Term

For too long, we have been sitting at the 'kids’ table', settling for whatever is leftover by the executives who run our airline. It's time we take our rightful seat at the table. We have a right to participate in the corporate decisions that profoundly impact our professional and our personal lives. We have a right to negotiate over our own future, not simply to take what has been dictated to us.
