Over the past weekend, representatives from 18 airlines represented by AFA met in Las Vegas for the 49th annual AFA Board of Directors (BOD) Convention.

I’m a Seattle-based Flight Attendant, and I’m about to celebrate my 8-year anniversary at Delta.

Next month, I will celebrate my eighth anniversary with Delta.

It’s Christmas Eve 2021 and management is cancelling hundreds of flights claiming “disruptions from Omicron.” Delta has cancelled 157 flights, 7% of the operation as of 12pm Eastern.

Delta management has prided and sold themselves on being the “safest” airline during COVID. Remember the empty middle seats?

But yesterday, CEO Ed Bastian and other executives sent a letter asking the CDC to reduce quarantine time for breakthrough cases from 10 days to 5 days.

Delta is investing in international carriers, while telling us “Sorry, no raise” even as the cost of living rose dramatically in 2021. (Remember, management already gave themselves a “one-time” adjustment bonus this year.)
In January 2020, management announced it would rollout a “completely new uniform program for flight attendants and ACS above-wing employees… as soon as possible, hopefully in late 2021.”
As a Flight Attendant, most Election Days we're away from home. That's why we rely on early voting and mail ballots to cast our votes in local, state, and national elections.
COVID-19 hit and management abandoned its promise and plans to completely replace the toxic uniforms. Instead, opting to make the “interim” Graphite suit option permanent and forcing Flight Attendants back into the purple and gray uniforms in January 2022. But nothing has changed for Delta Flight Attendants who have gotten sick from the toxic uniforms.
This week, Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) moved the Senate one step closer to confirming former AFA and IBT Attorney Dierdre Hamilton to serve on the National Mediation Board (NMB), which will also put in place a majority NMB in support of workers and our rights to organize and collectively bargain.

“I watched this video last night and it had me feeling so silly about the years I’d spent taking and absorbing these messages from the company and believing them.”

That’s part of a message we received from one of our flying partners who watched John Oliver’s latest episode of Last Week Tonight.

So why did a segment on a comedy show make our flying partner feel “duped and manipulated”?
