“I watched this video last night and it had me feeling so silly about the years I’d spent taking and absorbing these messages from the company and believing them.”

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) expects nearly 20 million passengers during this year’s Thanksgiving holiday travel, from Friday, November 19 through Sunday, November 28. In order to best prepare for a safe, efficient travel experience our union - the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA - offers this guidance for passengers:

When Delta management changed to a biweekly pay schedule in 2019, they took away the flexibility so many of us loved and the stability in our paychecks we counted on.

The airline industry is in crisis. Our jobs and our paychecks are on the line. We are working around the clock to get a relief package in place that focuses on all of us and our jobs. This is not a bailout. We don't need a government package like the past where airline executives took bonuses while forcing concessions on us through bankruptcy.

Dear Delta Flying Partners:

This is a really difficult and uncertain time across the industry and around the world. The capacity cuts that CEO Ed Bastian announced yesterday are deep: “an overall capacity reduction in the next few months of 40 percent – the largest capacity reduction in Delta’s history, including 2001.” More details from his announcement are included at the end of this newsletter update.

Our AFA pin is a symbol of our collective strength. When we wear the AFA pin, it shows our flying partners and management that we support our union. It’s our legal right to wear it as a part of our uniform – including our newest flying partners still on probation. This pin means we are never alone!

Review AFA's Resource page for the latest information on COVID-19, our advocacy for occupational resources to protect crew and passengers, and refreshers on how to best utilize universal precautions. At airlines where AFA has contracts we are interfacing directly with management on safety and health procedures as well as issues related to pay protection and reassignment.

We have been working with airlines on the following actions to mitigate risk and protect crews.

If the company says it will take years, what they mean is that they do not plan to respect the democratic vote of the Flight Attendants and act in good faith to negotiate the contract. AFA has the experience and ability to complete negotiations within a year of the representation vote.

This is the process to get to a first contract at Delta:

We’ve all faced moments of crisis in our professional and personal lives, when our problems overwhelm normal coping strategies. AFA makes sure you have someone to talk to – in fact, we train your peers to help you solve your problems without resorting to company involvement.
